Hudson you are 5 months old. You are getting to be quite the big boy. You have a very large personality and are a very happy baby most of the time. You really only cry or fuss when you are tired or hungry (don't we all). You are changing and growing so much. Mimi even says it is much easier to take you places and you entertain yourself much more now that you are getting older.
Since you did not have a doctor's appointment at 5 months, we weighed you on our own. You are now 20 pounds....such a big and healthy baby.
Some of your favorite things at this point include sitting in your highchair to play with your toys and while Mommy and Daddy eat, jumping in your johnny jump-up, playing in your exersaucer, reading books, and talking to anyone that will listen to you. Your new obsession is our cell phones. You also have been to many of the MSU basketball games lately and you really seem to enjoy them. You are attentive to the court and the jumbo-tron in the stadium. The loud music, band, buzzers, and announcer no longer startle you. (We are so glad)! You put any and everything into your mouth include your hands and your feet. You are in a stage where you don't like your pacifier much but this may be a good thing for later down the road when we want to get rid of it.
Your sleeping patterns continue to change at night but you are consistently taking 2-3 naps a day. Often times you will take at least one longer nap (1-2 hours) and 2 shorter naps (30-45 mins) with Mimi during the week and at home on the weekends. At night, you continue to wake up 1-2 times to eat. I think you are just a hungry, growing boy. We no longer swaddle you at night and this seems to make it much easier for you to go down after your feedings in the middle of the night. You often cry yourself to sleep when we lay you down for the first time. It varies how long and how hard you cry. If you cry for 20 minutes, Mommy or Daddy rocks you again until you are calmed down and asleep. This seems to be working well and is much easier on us although Mommy still hates listening to you cry when we lay you down. I want you to know although I do not always rush right in to pick you up and comfort you that I love you and will always be here for you.
You are eating so well. You still take bottles around every 3 hours during the day. During dinnertime, Mommy has been feeding you some green beans (started around 1/17/11) along with a smaller bottle. You seem to really enjoy them and are doing a nice job keeping most of them in your mouth and swallowing them. We tried to spoon feed you rice cereal and you just didn't like the texture. You were gagging yourself so bad!
Your eyes are still a dark blue but seem to have a hint of brown in them. I am thinking they are going to change to hazel eventually. All I know is that they are beautiful and you get so many compliments about how you have big curious eyes and that they are so pretty!
Our next appointment with the doctor is scheduled for February 1st. You will get your 6 month shots and checkup then. Mommy and Daddy can't wait to see how much you have grown since your last visit.
Hudson, you are so much fun!! Mommy looks forward to picking you up everyday after work and seeing your sweet smile when you see that I am there. I also enjoy getting to talk to you on the phone each day and hear your sweet voice while I am working (makes my days so much better). Daddy and I love you so much and can't imagine our life without you. God is so good, and we thank Him every night for you!!!
