31 Weeks

Today I am 31 weeks pregnant. There is no new fruit comparison this week. Hudson is still roughly the size of a squash.

Well I had a doctor's appointment yesterday. I had lost a pound from the previous appointment which makes my total weight gain now at 10 pounds. The doctor was not concerned with this at all. My blood pressure was still very good. Hudson's heart rate was 150 beats per minute and he is still measuring ahead. From around 18 weeks he has been measuring around 2 cm ahead and yesterday at my appointment he measured 3 weeks ahead. My doctor decided to do an ultrasound to check his growth and to see if: 1)he is just a big baby, 2)I have a lot of fluid, or 3)if my due date is off. I am praying it is that we are actually 2-3 weeks off on the due date, and he will be here even sooner than we thought. We have thought all along that we conceived two weeks ahead of what he measured at the very first ultrasound.

This weekend is Memorial Weekend. We are headed to the lake for the first time this summer and I am so excited! We plan on doing some fishing, swimming, and grilling. I will probably be in the air conditioning or water most of the weekend or I would be way too hot with this big o' belly! Some family friends will be at the cabin on Sunday that we haven't seen for 3-4 years so I am very excited to see them.

Hudson is still a super active boy who kicks and rolls alot. Brandon finally got to feel him last night at the Springfield Cardinals game. He was the last of my side to feel him!! I have 1.5 days of school left next Tuesday and Wednesday. I am happy for the summer and a break. I can't wait to sleep in on Thursday morning!! It has been a great year, and I just found out I will be back at Cowden next year for sure which makes me VERY HAPPY! I love my principal, co-workers, and the kids.

At 31 weeks, Hudson is over 16 inches long and weighs around 3.3 pounds. He will be having a growth spurt very soon! He can turn his head from side-to-side and he is beginning to plump up in his arms, legs, and body as fat accumulates underneath his skin. It states on baby center's website that he may be so active now at night that he will wake me up due to his punches and somersaults. This is a good sign that he is active and healthy!

5.5 days

I have 5.5 days of school left and 3 days of therapy services left. I am going to Special Olympics on Friday with my entire school to cheer on the athletes. Monday is a holiday and the last two days of school I am taking for myself to get some paperwork and things in order before my maternity leave at the beginning of next school year. That's it.....just wanted to share. Can you tell I am excited??

30 Weeks

Today is the 30 week mark! I can't believe that we have approximately 10 weeks left until we meet our baby boy. Hudson is super active flipping, rolling, and kicking in my belly. It is such a great feeling! He has not caused me any pain yet from his kicks. I am still experiencing some back, pubic, and upper leg pain but that comes and goes and is not constant. I have had alot of indigestion and heartburn lately so tums are my best friend right now.

My staff at Cowden had our baby shower on Wednesday. Casey, our counselor is also pregnant and is due 5 days after me so we had a joint shower. It was nice and we got so many wonderful gifts. I have 6.5 days left of school for this year. I can't believe it is almost over and summer is here. I am not doing summer school so I will have from June 2 until after my maternity leave is over until I go back to work. This first year has been a good one that has gone by fast but a stressful one at that. I am looking forward to being able to relax the last few months of my pregnancy before Hudson gets here.

At 30 weeks, Hudson is around 15.7 inches long and weighs approximately 3 pounds. There is around a pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounding him at this point in the pregnancy but this volume will decrease as he gets bigger and there is less room. Hudson's eyesight is still developing. His vision is not very good right now and after he is born he will continue to keep his eyes closed for much of the day. When Hudson is born, his eyesight will be around 20/400 (normal adult is 20/20) so he can only see a few inches from his face.

29 Weeks.........Our squash

I am 29 weeks now. I am feeling alright. I have been experiencing some pubic, upper leg, and back pain. This is common and nothing to worry about but something that is quite painful. I have found myself a couple of times almost in tears due to not being able to move without pain.....this is usually when I am trying to roll over or get out of bed. This could be because he is a bigger baby, my scoliosis, or just the way he is positioned. I think it occurs more when I have been on my feet all day. Hudson is continuing to move and kick frequently. My mom and dad both got to feel Hudson this weekend. Dad got to feel him for the first time, and I was so excited!

At 29 weeks, Hudson is approximately the size of a squash. He is around 2 1/2 pounds and a little over 15 inches long. He is growing rapidly now and his energy is surging. This is due to white fat deposits beneath the skin. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature and his head is getting bigger to accommodate his growing brain. Everyday at this point about 200 milligrams of calcium is deposited into Hudson's skeleton, which is now hardening. With all of the growth that occurs this trimester, his nutritional needs reach their peak.

My sister and Brandon were married on Friday. It was a beautiful ceremony and a fun indoor/outdoor reception. I got to see many friends and family members that I hadn't seen in a while. My sister was stunning, and I am so happy for them both.

I Passed!!!

Today I was suppose to hear from the doctor's office only if there was a problem with my glucose test from yesterday. I hadn't heard anything by my break at 11:30 and decided to call the nurse to have her tell me the results that way I could quit worrying. Well, I PASSED!!!! I am so excited. I needed to get below a 140 to pass and my blood sugar level was a 95. My iron was in the average range as well meaning everything looks great! The 3-hour test did not sound fun to me AT ALL so I am thrilled that I passed! Now, I think I would like to go and celebrate with some ice cream.

An Appointment and a Test

I had my 28 week appointment today. My weight had not changed from two weeks ago. The nurse was not concerned. I am assuming that the no weight gain was because I had the stomach flu last Monday. My total weight gain at this point is 11 pounds. My blood pressure was great again and Hudson's heartbeat was at 160 beats per minute. It was a little higher than my last appointment but my doctor believed that to be because of the orange soda drink I had to drink for my glucose test today. Hudson is still measuring 2 cm ahead and he was head down. I am not sure if this is where he will stay or if he continues to move around until farther along.

My mom joined me at my appointment since Jeremy had a visit to make-up. (THANKS MOM!!)She got to hear his heartbeat again and be there for me when they took my blood (last time I got a little dizzy/weak). I am praying that my glucose test comes back good so I do not have to go back to the lab to have the 3-hr glucose test done. It consists of being stuck 4 times and having to fast for 12 hours......let alone take more time off work! Please pray that I do not hear from the doctor's office tomorrow. No news is good news in this situation.

Just wanted to write and give a quick update on my appointment from today. Hope everyone is doing well!

Mother's Day

Yesterday was Mother's Day. My parents came to church with Jessie, Brandon, Jeremy, and I. It was nice to have them in the service with us. After church, we had planned on going to Cheddars for lunch. I called them on our way and they said a table of six would be a two-hour wait. None of us were that set on going to Cheddars, so we decided to pick up Papa Murphy's Pizza and hang out at my parent's house. We gave mom two rose bushes that she is going to put at the lake on the side of the cabin. We also bought her a strawberry cheesecake cake from Coldstone Creamery. It was a nice time as always at my parents just hanging out and watching the Cardinals.

I truly believe I have the best mom in the world. She has always put us first since the day we were born. She is a strength of support and loves us so much. I can't put into words how much she means to me and how lucky I am to have her in my life.

I also got a few soon-to-be Mother's Day cards/gifts. My mom and dad had mailed me a card that I got the day before, and my sister and Brandon gave me a card with chocolate covered strawberries yesterday. Jeremy got me a sweet card and some perfume that I had been wanting. It was a very special day for me! This time next year, we will have a 9 month old crawling around, and it will officially be my "First Mother's Day!!"

To all of the moms out there, I hope you had a wonderful and special day with your family.

Week 28 Photo

28 Weeks

Hudson is still an eggplant for one more week.........new fruit/vegetable comparison coming next week!

This week has been a rough one. I got sick with the stomach flu on Monday afternoon and am still not feeling 100% (read my last blog for info). I am just really tired and can't seem to catch up. Hudson has been super active this week. I feel him all the time whether it is the morning, day, or night.

I am feeling a little stressed, because I still have around 8 IEPs for my speech only kids to finish and only 18 days of school left (It will get done, it has too). I am so excited that summer is just around the corner, and I will be so happy when all of this paperwork is behind me. My first year has flown by and for the most part has been a great year! My school is throwing me and our counselor a double baby shower on Wednesday, May 19th.

Also, big news is that my sister is getting married a week from today!! She will be Mrs. Penrose before we know it. I couldn't be more happy for her and Brandon. I just love him to death and he is a perfect addition to our family. So I have been busy trying to help her get last minute details together for her special day.

At 28 weeks, Hudson weighs around 2 1/4 pounds and is approximately 14.8 inches from his head to his heels. He now has eyelashes that can be seen and he blinks. He may even be able to see light that can filter in through the womb. Hudson is developing billions of neurons inside his brain and more baby fat on his body to prepare him for the world outside.

I have my glucose/diabetes test on Monday after school. It is a test where the lab gives me a drink of orange sugary liquid. I will drink it and then let it sit in my system for an hour and then they draw blood. It is to check to see how my body is breaking down the sugars and whether I have gestational diabetes or not. I am praying that I don't because I am not a fan of needles and want to be as healthy for Hudson as possible. I know it is something that is not completely in my control and I shouldn't worry about it. I will update you with details after I get them.

Stomach flu is miserable....

.........when you are pregnant. It's not pleasant anytime but way worse when you are. I found that out starting at 4:00pm on Monday. I worked a full day and felt ok besides the usual tiredness. I came home and was sick between 4pm and 6am on Tuesday morning. Between those times, I was up almost every hour throwing up or running the the bathroom. It was amazing to me how bad it made my stomach hurt.....probably because I haven't been using those muscles in the last 7 months. I had a low grade fever until Tuesday afternoon, body aches, chills/sweats, and talked to Labor and Delivery twice. Hudson was going crazy moving and turning in my stomach but never once did I have a contraction although I was worried and that is why I called. I did worry that if I couldn't hold down any liquid on Tuesday I would have to be admitted for IV's. Luckily, I ate a little soup and had lots of sprite and water on Tuesday so I didn't end up in the hospital I stayed home from work on Tuesday and Wednesday to catch up and get back to myself. My sister and Jeremy also stayed home Tuesday and were both sick as well. We had to have caught the bug at church or Target on Sunday. Brandon was the only lucky one to escape the terrible flu. I am back at work today but boy am I still exhausted. I am looking forward to feeling back to my old self!!

Registered

Jeremy, Jessica, and I went yesterday to register for Hudson at Babies R Us. What a fun but long and tiring time. We registered for so many items but since this is our first, we have very little for our little man. Jeremy and I decided on a Lamb and Ivy bedding set. It was somewhat of a compromise. We are both huge sports fans but I did not want his bedding to be just a sports theme. Jeremy would have loved for it to be. I wanted jungle animals so when we decided on the bedding we chose it was just perfect. It has jungle animals with lots of browns, khakis, and bright colors. Each jungle animal has a sports ball with it so it's a great fit for us. I can't wait to see Hudson in his crib with his cute bedding.

Today we went to church and then to Target. We finished registering for Hudson, and Target was a much faster trip because it is smaller and we weren't registering for as much as we did at Babies R Us. I am looking forward to my shower in the middle of June!!
