You are now 6 months old Hudson Ray. It is officially your half-birthday. Mommy cannot believe that I gave birth to you 6 months ago.....where has the time gone? We are so proud of you and think you are just the cutest baby ever. I think most people would agree with us.
You were suppose to have your 6 month checkup and shots today but the doctor's office called to reschedule because they were going home for the day due to the snow. We are under a blizzard warning. As I write this we currently have 6 inches of snow and it's not letting down yet. Your 6 month appointment will now be on Valentines Day at 4:00pm. Mommy and Daddy weighed and measured you today. You are now 23 pounds and 27 inches long. What a BIG boy!
Hudson, your favorite things include eating your green beans, sitting in your highchair, exersaucer, and walker. You love your Johnny Jump Up and often bounce in it at night when Mommy and Daddy are their tv shows. You have always loved your baths and still do. You also like to roll around and lay on your stomach on the floor. We just know any day you are going to take off crawling. Talking on the cell phone is a daily thing for you. If you are with Mimi, you talk to Mommy at least twice a day and if you are with Mommy and Daddy you talk to Mimi and Papa at least once a day.
In terms of communication, you are very expressive. You have lots of facial expressions but our favorite is your smile. It lights up our world. You are babbling constantly. It doesn't appear to Mommy that you have any real consonants at this point. Your new thing is a sucking noise that you make by inhaling air. I think you have just learned recently that your voice can make lots of different noises. It is so cute and we got a video of it today on our snow day. Daddy and you do it back and forth. You definitely realize that a conversation is two-sided. You listen and then talk and so on. You are one smart cookie.
At bedtime, Daddy feeds you your bottle and rocks you for about 5 minutes. When he places you in your crib you almost never cry anymore but roll over onto your tummy and go to sleep. This makes it alot less stressful for Mommy. I absolutely hate listening to you cry. You have been sleeping around 5 or 6 hours before you wake to eat at night and then wake again around 6:30-7:00. A couple of the last few mornings Mommy has had to wake you up to leave for Mimi's house. Daddy is still feeding you during your nighttime feeding while Mommy pumps. You are such a happy baby in the mornings. I love your precious smile and your sweet voice.
You are still taking a bottle around every 3 hours. You are drinking about 5 ounces each bottle. Around dinnertime, we are offering you baby food and a bottle. You LOVE your green beans. You will eat carrots ok but squash is not your favorite. You are good at keeping most of the food in your mouth. At night, we are mixing half formula and half breastmilk to help hold you over a little. It doesn't seem to bother your tummy at all.
We feel so blessed to have you as our son. God gave us the best gift on July 29th. We thank Him everyday for you. We have enjoyed the past six months of your life and look forward to the next six. We love you to the moon and back Hudson Ray.
